5K to raise funds for the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art

Typically, when people visit a museum, they like to take a leisurely stroll to soak up the art, but for its next fundraiser, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art asks the public to put on their running shoes.

The Run on Art: Run to Celebrate 52 Artists 5K will take place on June 16 in Ridgefield. Walkers and runners are invited to complete a 5 km run or a 1.5 km loop walk through downtown Ridgefield which ends at the Aldrich with a celebratory beer, wine or sparkling water. The product of the 5K sponsored by Ridgefield Racing Company and On-Running will benefit the museum.

Aldrich executive director Cybele Maylone expressed her excitement for the event. “The Aldrich is delighted to partner with Ridgefield Racing Company and On-Running at this fun evening that highlights the mind-body connection through running and art,” she said in the press release.

Prior to the fun run, the Ridgefield Running Company will have local artist and team member Tharini Pande paint the shop windows.

Sam Traux of On-Running said fun running is an opportunity to champion artists across the running community.

The Aldrich Exhibition 52 artists: a feminist milestone runs from June 6 to January 8, 2023. The exhibition revisits a 1971 feminist exhibition by showcasing artists featured in the original exhibition and new emerging or non-binary female artists as they present the evolution of feminism in the world. ‘art.
