The Miami Hurricanes’ football schedule will have the opportunity to stand out this week against opponent FCS Central Connecticut State at Hard Rock Stadium.
Kick-off is set for 12:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on Bally Sports Network (check your local listings).
CCSU enters this week’s game with a 1-2 record, most recently coming off a 56-10 loss to Southeast Louisiana. The Blue Devils opened the season with a 28-21 loss to Southern Connecticut State
The only victory for the CCSU came in week two at Wagner, a 21-19 victory.
The last season CCSU played was in 2019 with the Blue Devils registering an 11-2 record.
Junior quarterback Romelo Williams, a native of Miramar High School, threw for 581 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 55.8 percent of his passes. Williams also ran for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Senior Everett Wormley is Williams’ main target, catching 11 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns this season.
Senior running back Nasir Smith (5-10, 220) ran for 174 yards on 43 carries while catching 11 passes for 49 yards.
The defense is led by senior Jahlil Brown, who totaled 24 tackles and forced a fumble. Senior defensive end Kelvin Apari (6-3, 260) has 17 tackles, 4.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks this year.
The CCSU defense totaled three sacks, three interceptions and three fumbles recovered. They allow 34 points per game and 401 yards per game.
Kicker Joe Zoppi converted 1 of 2 field goal attempts with the only mark coming from 33 yards. Kicker Aidan Clark is averaging 33 yards per punt.
In the last five meetings against an opponent from FCS, the Hurricanes have won by an average score of 59-3.
