Connecticut Trolley Museum Summer Events Planned

EAST WINDSOR, CT – A number of events are planned this summer at the Connecticut Trolley Museum. A partial list includes:

June 19 – Father’s Day Behind-the-Scenes Tour and Guest Biker Day Tour – “Behind the Scenes” will give visitors the opportunity to see some of the ongoing restoration projects up close, including the company car of Connecticut #3001 (almost 121 years old!), Brooklyn Rapid Transit #169 (128 years old!) & Northern Ohio Traction & Light Co. #1500 (113 years old!). Plus, tour the grounds that are normally closed to visitors with a museum guide and watch demonstrations of pump cars. Admission prices are $13 for adults, $11 for children 2-11, and half for museum members. Dads and grandfathers receive FREE admission when accompanied by a paying adult or child. “Guest Motorman Experience” will give dads and grandfathers the chance to get behind the controllers and operate a cart under the guidance of your instructor for a mini-lesson in how to operate a cart. The program is for adults only. The cost is $15 to operate the cart.

June 21 – Beginning of Summer Hours – Throughout the summer, CTM will be running many activities including – Tram Rides: Take a tram ride operated by vintage-dressed bikers on a tram dating back to the early 1900s. 1900s. Learn historical information about the collection and the beginnings of the museum. Trolley Experiences: Get up close and personal as you board selected trolleys from the museum’s incredible collection in the Visitor Center. From streetcars to intercity cars, this is your chance to take the controls and let your imagination “work”. Crafting Station: Craft a biker hat and create your own tram ticket. Take your new creations home for future use. Disguise station: disguise yourself as a car driver or a conductor! Great photoshoot! Fire Truck Museum: See more than 15 fire trucks dating back to 1923. Learn about the fire truck museum’s collection as well as historic firefighting equipment. (Admission to the Fire Truck Museum is included in the Trolley Museum admission ticket). Storytime Trolleys: with stories about trolley and train adventures. The reading will take place inside one of our historic wagons and a wagon ride will follow. Each story is different and all ages are welcome! Storytime is included in admission. Admission prices are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for children 2-11, and half for museum members.

Summer Music Series: July 8 – Victrola and August 12 – Just Jeannie – Join the Trolley Museum for live music in the outdoor courtyard and take a trolley ride while enjoying the beautiful exterior. Bring your own lawn chair and pack a picnic basket full of your favorite treats (bring your own beer and wine allowed) to relax in while listening to music. Admission prices are $11 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for children 2-11, and half for museum members.
