Did you know there is a telephone museum in New Hampshire?

There seem to be museums for everything these days.

In Warner, New Hampshire is, you guessed it, a telephone museum.

It is understandable that you wonder ” Why ? It seems like such a random type of museum. And why New Hampshire, of all? » We wondered and decided to find out.

According to them website, the New Hampshire Telephone Museum was founded by Alderic O. “Dick” Violette, who had a long career in the telephone business, particularly in Merrimack County, New Hampshire. During his life and career, he built up an extensive collection of “telephone equipment, including telephones, tools, books, and related memorabilia.” The Telephone Museum, which opened in 2005, displays, among other things, more than 1,000 artifacts from its collection. Pretty cool, huh?

The Museum offers guided and self-guided tours where people can learn about the history of telecommunications and view this extensive collection. Besides Violette’s objects, other exhibits include:

…the collection of the Violette & Bartlett families who have collectively worked in the telephone industry for over 85 years. The collection of Garry Mitchell, another longtime Woodbury Connecticut operator, and gifts received from the public are also on display.

Visitors really enjoy visiting this place, which has been rated 4.5/5 stars on Facebook and a 5/5 star rating on TripAdvisor.

Interested in checking out this place yourself? The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May 1 to October 31. Admission is $7 for adults ages 18-64, $6 for seniors, and $3 for K-12 students.
