The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry presents THE MAKING OF FEEL YOUR BEST SELF: DEVELOPMENT AND SCRIPTWRITING Online Forum

As part of the Fall Puppet Forum Series 2022, the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry at the University of Connecticut will host “The Making of Feel Your Best Self: Development and Scriptwriting” hosted by Sandy Chafouleas and Emily Wicks and featuring Sarah Nolen and Yanniv Frank on Thursday, November 10 at 7 p.m. ET. This forum will take place on Zoom (registration required) and facebook live and will be available later on the Ballard Institute’s Facebook page and Youtube channel.

In this forum, Feel Your Best Self creators Sandy Chafouleas and Emily Wicks and screenwriters Sarah Nolen and Yanniv Frank talk about the development of this unique cross-disciplinary collaboration between UConn School and Child Health Collaborative and Ballard Institute using puppetry to promote the emotional well-being of elementary-aged children. The team discuss challenges and methods used to take wellness strategies, such as “belly breathing” and “shake the yuck” and turn them into simple yet engaging stories featuring three puppet friends, Nico, Mena and CJ.

Feel the best of yourself is designed for elementary-aged children as an educational toolkit to learn strategies for calming yourself down, capturing your feelings, and connecting with others. FYBS Strategies provide fun and easy ways to help children (and adults) experience emotions, feelings, or moods. The toolkit, which includes short videos, facilitator steps, reflective journals, strategy maps and tip sheets, is free and accessible on the website.
