NEW BRITAIN — Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Central Connecticut State University on Wednesday, the school announced.

CCSU President Zulma Toro announced the visit in an email Monday morning. Harris will participate in a roundtable on reproductive rights with U.S. Representative Jahana Hayes, D-Waterbury and Alexis McGill Johnson, national president of Planned Parenthood, according to Toro.

“As a public university that embraces an open discourse regardless of its policy, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase our campus nationally, and we look forward to welcoming the vice president,” said Toro said in the email.

Although the timing of the event has not been specified, it is expected to take place at the Torp Theater, according to Toro. Harris’ team is on campus “to begin preparations.”

“Later today, we hope to have additional details to share with you, as well as ticket information,” Toro said. “The university will receive a limited number to distribute to students, staff and faculty.”

Harris was in Connecticut earlier this year. In May she delivered the opening speech for the promotion of the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London.
